Studio Munich is a recent enterprise initiated by Professor Bruno Krucker and Professor Stephen Bates operating within the Studio Krucker Bates chair of Urbanism and Housing at the TU. The Studio invites between 8-10 high-achieving students per semester to work closely with both Professors and Assistants Katharina Leuschner and Axel Baudendistel within a design office environment.
The studio will carry out exploratory studies, scenarios of development, test planning and specific building designs for projects in and around the city of Munich. Working closely with project partners ranging from Housing Associations, Housing developers and the Stadt Munchen Planning department amongst others, the studio will work on live projects in the city, engaging with current debate on housing and development issues and seeking to offer realistic and effective solutions to real problems.
Students joining the studio should be prepared for collaborative work and an evolving design process as influenced by the brief, regular critical input by the project partners and a high level of ambition for the clear presentation of ideas.
